We are ALWAYS just two or three play makers away from playoff contention. Most teams can say the same thing every year.

The differance being this year we actually have the picks and the money to get them.

    Here's hoping we do.

Me and my buddy were the NFL guys they were talking to. They didn't ask for credentials or anything.

We've heard this for a few years now. The question is, will we actually get them? Based on history, I would say no.

The entire premise of this thread is a joke. A dispassionate analysis of this year's playoffs show that teams must be able to score between 35 and 40 points a game in order to beat the best teams in the league. And this isn't 35 to 40 points against teams that can't play defense, this is 35 to 40 points against the best teams in the league. The Dolphins are twenty points a game short of this level.

So what do we realistically need to compete at the Super Bowl level:

    a. Two new wide receivers who can between them score two touchdowns a game.
    b. A new seam busting tight end who is good for a touchdown a game.
    c. A rework of our offensive line. Jerry and Incognito don't fit our system and must be replaced. Long will be too expensive to afford.

    d. An additional pass rusher to go with Cam Wake.
    e. Two new cornerbacks who can both cover and intercept the ball.
    f. At least one new linebacker who is a disruptive playmaker.

So, in my opinion, we are realistically six players on offense and four players on defense away from having the talent required to win a Super Bowl. This isn't going to be fixed this year in the draft and it won't be fixed in free agency either.
If we leave the OL alone til next year, we'll get what we need this year. Incognito is a FA next season. Jerry is part of our future as if we tag Long, we can focus on the OL next off season and you draft two new guards then and move Martin to LT and Jerry to the RT. You merely draft a developmental G in the mid to late rounds this season and you focus on another one and maybe even another OT to compete with Martin for the LT spot. But "this" off season we must tag Long and fix our need for playmakers. Worry about the OL "next" off season.

Exactly what I was gonna say.

It took Ireland 5 years to find our one and only playmaker in Reggie who we're probably going to lose shortly. Its possible but I don't like his chances of finding us the 3 or 4 we need in one offseason.

Well, people said he'd never pick up a first round QB that we can build around...and he did that last year. Now he has no reason not to build around Tannehill and add some playmakers with all the money & picks available to him. That being said, I like our chances of him improving the talent on this team regardless of his past history.

Be afraid, Brady. Be very afraid!

I just try to be myself, whatever that is. I don't think about how I'll be remembered. I just want to be consistent over a long period of time. That's what the great players do.

San Fran has 17 Pro Bowlers on their roster.

    End of story.

Our roster is chicken crap comparatively speaking. Drafting. GM -- RADICAL difference.
