It was a metaphor, dude. Doesn't matter what the tax is or how it's used, it will have an impact on south Florida citizens, regardless if it comes from tourism money or not.
No it wasnt. There was nothing metaphorical about your statement. In order for it to be a metaphor, there has to be a comparison, which there wasnt. And it does matter what the tax is and how its used, that's the whole point of this discussion.

I'll make something very clear for you. Whenever businesses get tax breaks or some kind of loan like this, that is the furthest thing from socialization of anything. People like Ross create jobs, and as a state you want ppl like that in your neck of the woods so to speak. Welcome to the real world, welcome to how our economy works, or rather how it use to work, when it actually worked. I for one want Florida to do well, and to prosper. If we lose ppl and in turn a franchise like the Dolphins we all suffer.

The highway stuff, is just nonsense!
The amount of jobs the dolphins create for the community is quite minimal. A local walmart creates more jobs than the dolphins do. Lets quit acting like this is the equilvlant of closing a military base. The dolphins total affect on the Miami economy is quite down the ladder.

I believe he said Ross creates jobs, not the Miami Dolphins. And a local Wal Mart creates more jobs than Miami does....in China. Anyways, its not about job creation, its about tax revenue - and an NFL franchise brings a lot of money into the city.

in the grand scheme of things an nfl franchise is way down on list of tax revenue in area. So local walmart is not manned or staffed by people? Im pretty sure walmart creates a hell of a lot more jobs than the dolphins do

Im also quite sure the percentage of team merchandise sold in dolphin stadium is no more than walmart. Last time I checked these jerseys and t shorts were not made in us

What are all these jobs that Ross is creating in community?

The stadium is open all year long and has events all year long. There are a lot of employees for the events and lots of employees to control and maintain the stadium year round.

I used to audit for the Orlando Centroplex, which was where the Orlando Magic used to play before the area was demolished and the Amway Center was built. They had over 400 people on the payroll - security guards, concession workers, marketing execs, sales associates, warehouse workers, ushers, garage tenants, cleaning crews, ect. And that's just the stadium staff and doesn't include players, trainers, medical staff, or general contractors. And we could even start counting the hotels and restaurants adjacent to the facilities. You are trying to tell me that a local Wall Mart provides more jobs that that? And in the grand scheme of things, any NFL franchise is way up on the list of bringing in revenue to a local municipality. There are scores of economic studies done by the development groups and the city to determine the financial impact on the communities from these kinds of deals.

But I guess since Dlockz says that Wal Mart is the model for creating local jobs and economic growth, we should just call the demolition crews in to implode Sun Life Stadium and erect a Super Wal-Mart in its place.

If you have one of those jobs, I doubt you would hold this kind of irrational, and wonderland type of thinking. Simply amazing, lol!

So one minute the Dolphins arent a private business and the next Ross creates jobs with his private business. Your to funny.

I have no doubt that if you read the statement "government is redistributing tax payer money into specific businesses that they chose" youd freak. Cries of socialism would be abound. Of course, when that business is the Dolphins...well, its the furthest thing from socialism as possible!

And yeah, who needs highways? Crazy. We all know job creators will take care of everything. You know, when they get to work. If they get to work. And if they injury themself trying to get to work, well they can just go to the hospital. Wait, what pays for hospitals again? I can see how this might be a confusing subject for you, after all, your school might have struggled under budgetary constraints.

I stated the Dolphins, and specifically the stadium situations present and past are/were a private entity. So...

Yes, I do believe you and others that have posted in this THREAD do have socialist tendencies. The whole highway thing, is a dead give away!
