I don't know why people get upset at these guys for statements like this, I mean, what do you want him to say, something like: "I think some team will offer me $6m but we all know I'm really only worth about $3m, so sign me up MIAMI". Its not a demand, its a prediction, its not like he's going to sit out for the season if he doesn't get the $6.5m, he'll play for the best offer. I think $6.5m is at the high end of what he may get offered but its not completely unbelievable.

If you want to be mad at somebody be mad at our gm for not locking Hartline up for $3-4 million at this time last year.

This is what happens when you don't have any real talent and "somebody" has to be the #1. Now he believes he is a #1...and he knows that Ireland has a bunch of money to spend.

If you have real talent, guys like Hartline get maybe 50 catches...

What ends up happening is you end up with a bunch of guys who would be second string on other teams now thinking they are something special. You end up spending just as much as the teams with real talent for a bunch of second-rate players....Thanks Ireland...

And also...the Jags way overpaid for Robinson too. Giving him all that money after 1 decent season after 5 years...then ends up injured for half the year and didn't even look good when he was on the field this year.

Just an opening offer so I'm not going to read to much into it. Hartline isn't a #1 but he's a solid #2 and should get paid as such. Going to kick back and see where the chips fall. This should be a very interesting off season.

If he thought he was a #1 wr he'd be asking for a lot more than 6 mil per year. I don't think its an unreasonable request.......he'll probably end up getting something in the 4-5 mil per year range.

I would offer a little above half that contract and let him take it or walk.

I think most fans are still living in the past decade. We have receivers making 10+ mil a year these days, and a 120 mil salary cap. Say he got a little less than a Robinson type deal, with a cap hit around 4 mil for the first couple seasons and 6-8 mil guaranteed. That would mean you consider him to be somewhere around a top 60 receiver in the NFL. Is that really unreasonable, especially given the complete unknown that is whatever free agent or draft signing is brought in to replace him?

hartlines lack of td production is gonna hurt him in trying to get robinson money...but hartlines agent is probably gonna counter with he's been a more consistent producer and is coming off a very productive season and i'm sure he's gonna blame the miami o some...

let him test free agency...it's possible someone meets that # and he walks it's also possible he's overplayed his hand...
