I am about as conservative, at least physically and foreign policy wise, as you can get. However, it is really becoming blurry as to which party is which. They disagree and fight just to disagree and fight. Both parties suck!

It's all a big shell game. I've been a Republican all of my life, but my viewpoints are definitely a lot more libertarian.

I am right there with you. The sad thing is that neither party realizes that there are a lot of us that vote the lesser of two evils rather than having a candidate we truly support.

The Hagel thing has become such a circus and we all know the real reason why certain people are fighting against him so hard and it's not Benghazi. One would think those GOP senators would treat one of their own and a war hero with a little more respect, but they all knew that the people who line their pockets are not too pleased with the Hagel nomination and were watching that hearing. The most glaring examples of this were Graham and Cruz's questioning with Graham making me literally laugh out loud and Cruz looking particularly clueless. And now all the AM radio jagoffs who have shat on McCain and Graham for years for being "RINOs" are now lauding them as conservative heroes. God I hate having to agree with those guys on **** like gun rights.

The scary thing is, I think they do. I think they realize that most of America has Battered Girlfriend Syndrome. They repeatedly lie to our faces and when we call them on it they either deflect the topic or tell us this time is different. Problem is, this time is never different but we immediately drop our opposition.

I swear the only reason that I have voted for any of the dip****s we have had available the past twenty years is that they were all we had to choose from.

That's why I started voting my conscience instead, since apparently it doesn't matter anyway. In the last two presidential elections I've voted for Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party) and Gary Johnson.

Im sorry, was i looking like a gave a **** again?
    My bad.

I'll use smaller words so you can keep up next time...
Holy schnikies! A post that didn't boil down to "Obama sucks and they're terkern er gerns!" in a thread that has little to do with one and absolutely nothing to do with the other. Well done! Keep heading in that direction and you might actually end up discussing the topic of the thread.

Wasting taxpayer money and lawmaker time on silly gesturing. That is about as much as this crap amounts to. There's no principle to it- it's like a crazy girlfriend that wants to argue with you for no ****ing reason other than to hear herself complain.
Meanwhile, both sides get to put off doing anything meaningful while giving the appearance of actually working.

If this was a quarter of a century ago, when "borking" was coined, i might agree.

Never before has a President had a Cabinet nominee blocked. Couple this with the 3-4 times as many filibusters since the GOP became the minority, and id happy to give the GOP the award for unprecedented obstruction. And the way they brag about it, theyd probably accept. If you want to hang onto what happened during Reagan's term to justify whats currently happening, by all means. But its attitudes like that that develop this kind of broken government. The current Republican party is not the same as the one from the 80's. Neither is the current Democratic party. Im treating them like different entitees. If we were going by just the names used, then Lincoln would be talked about more on here.

Anyway you cut it, this would normally set a bad precedent. But like i said before, the GOP is right to see no downside to this. Democrats wont retaliate when Obama's term is up(at least not in any real way). It has nothing to do with some nobility, but the fact that they lack testicular fortitude.
Not true. Another Sen. John Tower was the first (?) cabinet nominee to be blocked for Secretary of Defense in 1989. The replacement later confirmed by Democrats as the right man for the job elevating him on the national stage...Representative Dick Cheney from Wyoming.

Hagel choice is similiar to the Tower bad choice...a Senator with a lot of enemies in the Senate clubhouse. Possibly the Senate getting out maneuvered again politicaly. Bring up a 2nd choice that's not liked...but at least Cheney/x isn't no Tower/Hagel....and everybody pats themselves on the back on really getting the best choice all along in Cheney/x. The x choice must be a real whopper given all the rhetoric divested in this as "unprecedented" and never has been done before...although to much of this spin and it may backfire.
