Just had a thought about Thigpen while watching a game from earlier this season

OK, so I needed a football fix this moring so I turned on our game vs. Seattle from this season. Watching Marcus Thigpen line up for the first punt return of the game that graphic came up that he's the first and only dolphin to return a punt and kickoff for a TD in the same season. His electricity on special teams has always slightly reminded me of Reggie Bush when he first played for the Saints. My question to you is, why can't he help in replacing Bush and how come he has never really gotten a chance on offense yet? It seems to me he could fill that Reggie role (in a more limited basis) and that way won't get in the way of Lamar Miller's progression.

Can someone tell me why this won't work???

Maybe..the plan this year should be to keep bush and slowly transition thigpen into the regular offense

Thigpen had great versatility and explosiveness I am definitely ok with him seeing the field more.

Keeping Bush would imply signing a 3 year or longer $15 million or so deal, why do just that just to slowly incorporate him out of our offense?

He will never be a primary runningback but I think he could be productive if used correctly. I am a big Thigpen fan.

I thought you were implying that we sign Tyler Thigpen as a backup QB at first. Thank God you were talking about Marcus, Lol. I think we will involve him more in the offense this year if Bush leaves via FA. He is such an electric player and could really help create mismatches for us. I was really excited when we signed him because I believe you have to have a very good return game to be successful in this league. Do the Ravens win without Jacoby jones??? Hell no!!! That being said, I hope he gets more chances this year but I would also like Bush to be re-signed to a team friendly deal. Thigpen and Miller could be ready for a bigger role but I'm a little nervous about giving these young guys the reigns.

Just in case Thigpen blows on offense.

I absolutely think Thigpen should see more time on offense but the thing to keep in mind is that between preseason and regular season he hasn't lined up once as a tailback and taken a carry that way. I think everyone just sees that his official position is listed as a tailback and they just assume things, but the reality is that since joining the Miami Dolphins he has been a return man and a slot wide receiver.

As a wide receiver I believe he got more of a shot against the Jaguars...and he didn't do too well. Still, I'd like to give him more of a shot as a wide receiver from the slot...see how deep the rabbit hole goes there.

just watching the SF game and he fumbled the punt that led to TD. one of two plays that lost us that game. bess doesnt make many mistakes and that is what may keep bess around one more year.
