    Adam Schefter is reporting the Cowboys may cut Miles Austin to get under the cap.

    I would pre-empt that cut and trade something small for him.

    A) That would make CERTAIN that you get him, whereas in free agency he could pick any team.
    B) It would allow you to keep his $19 million over the next 3 years contract, whereas in the free agent market he could get bid up to a higher contract
    C) You would have ZERO guaranteed on that contract, which means you could cut him at any point with no cap acceleration.
