3 players signed .... we are in great shape cap wise

So far we have locked down a pro bowl DT, a productive WR and the best backup QB in the NFL and we still have around 32 million in cap space.

6 million needs to be set aside to sign the draft class. This leaves over 25 million to sign a WR, a tight end and a CB. We can then look at positions like tackle or safety in the draft if we want.

We can also save cap space (4.5 million each) by cutting an existing player like Marshall or Patterson. If we plan to take a kicker in the draft Carpenter could also be a potential cap casualty. We have access to enough money to get just about anybody we want.

Some of you may think we are paying too much for Hartline or Moore but at the end of the day neither signing reduces our options and both have reduced cap hits this season. And we only have a handful of long term contracts on the roster so we dont need to worry about next year.

So far so good Jeff..... now go get Cook and Wallace.

I heard Cook was barely a small blip on Ireland's radar...take it for what its worth, but you're right. We have resigned marquee players (All other free agents are expendable in my opinion, Fasano is arguable to stay) and have a ton of money left to spend. Wallace turned down north of $10m from the team that drafted him...I do not see him taking anywhere less than at least $12.5m per unfortunately, but we have the cap to make it happen. Bring in Wallace, a TE like Cook/Keller, and OT Eric Winston, who makes Long easily expendable.

I am guessing those 3 would be a cap hit of about $26m (We can also restructure/cut several players for a surplus of $7m +). This leaves us prepared for the draft, and we can really focus on positions like CB and DE. We can do big things if Ireland gets this right. I am really trying not to be too optimistic though, it's been a reoccurring theme that optimism leads to disappointment with this franchise the past decade...fingers crossed!

Hartline not worth 6 mil per year he would be the 3rd receiver on many teams.
should have let him test free agency and see what other teams would have offered.
Will this be the year the dolphins make the playoffs?

I agree with this, except that I prefer Bennet to Cook

I used to be a big Dan Carpenter fan, but not after last year. I THINK his salary next year is $3mil anybody know what we would save if we cut him out right? If not cut him, he sure as hell better re-structure.

Cook is barely a blip on the radar? With this team's TEs under contract currently Mastrud, Clay and Egnew? Are you kidding me?

He's either dead set on Eifert at 12 or he's seen something from Michael Egnew that the coaches haven't.
Me say come, Mister Fisher man, show me da contract
Daylight come and Jake Long go home

An' it's six mil, seven mil, eight mil bunch
Daylight come and Jake Long go home
