VERNON CAREY SIGNS NEW SIX YEAR DEAL

The Dolphins on Thursday decided not to place the franchise tag on Vernon Carey causing some to question his future with the Dolphins. Those who were worried the former first round pick would leave, breathed a sigh of relief on Friday. The Dolphins and Carey agreed on a new 6 year deal worth $42 million.

The move ensures Carey and Pro Bowler Jake Long will remain the teams tackles for the foreseeable future. Carey has started 59 consecutive games for the Dolphins, and barring an off-season injury, will start a 60th straight game for the Dolphins this upcoming September.

The Dolphins still have one week to work on possible extensions for the team's other unrestricted free agents who are Yeremiah Bell, Channing Crowder, Al Johnson, Renaldo Hill and Andre' Goodman.
