FINS BENCH HENNE! PENNINGTON TO START AGAINST TITANS

Cut Jason Allen and sign veteran DB Al Harris

The Miami Dolphins have decided enough is enough. At the midway point of the season the team has made some big moves to try and solve the up and down rollercoaster that has been their 2010 season.  After inconsistent play quarterback Chad Henne has been benched in favor of veteran Chad Pennington. Additionally, the team cut Jason Allen and signed veteran DB Al Harris . The team has been all over  the map offensively and has not found any real identity and Henne's performance ranged from strong to horrible but he just has not seemed comfortable in the offense and has at times been an turnover maching throwing multiple interceptions in key games. The move to Pennington could be indication that the team feels like there are opportunitites that Henne has left on the field and that the more experienced and more accurate Pennington will see them and be able to perform better.

The release of Allen comes after the highly drafted DB started the season strong and then slowly collapsed as the season wore on. The Dolphins secondary has given up big play after big play and the hard hitting Harris should bring some veteran leadership to the young unit and maybe clean up the the mental errors that has yielded way too many yards and points.

Regardless if these moves improve the team or not, you have to give the front office credit for being bold and trying to right the ship. It was abundantly clear that things were not getting better. Perhaps the gutsy Pennington can breath some leadership into a team that badly needs it.

Did the Dolphins make the right moves?
