DOLPHINS DOMINATE CHIEFS, EARN FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
For the first time since early December 2010, the Dolphins have won a regular season football game. The Dolphins entered the day at 0-7 and while there was some talk this team could go winless, most knew the 2011 Dolphins were not as bad as their record might indicate. The Dolphins were underdogs to the Chiefs, who themselves had just ran off 4 straight wins including a big win this past Monday night against the San Diego Chargers. The Dolphins didn't just beat the Chiefs they CRUSHED the Chiefs 31-3. Matt Moore was on fire as he completed 17 of 23 passes for 244 yards, 3 touchdowns and no interceptions. Brandon Marshall, Anthony Fasano and Reggie Bush also had big days as they were major parts of the rout. Fasano had two touchdown receptions, including a 35 yard score in the second quarter to push the lead to 14-3. Marshall had 8 receptions for 106 yards and a touchdown reception in the 3rd quarter that extended the Dolphins lead to 21-3. Bush capped off the touchdowns on the day when he broke off a 28 yard touchdown run to put the lead at 28-3. Bush finished the day with 13 carries for 92 yards, 1 rushing touchdown, and 3 receptions for 50 yards. Dan Carpenter finished off the scoring when he nailed 42 yard field goal in the 4th quarter. While the offense was shreading the Chiefs defense, the Dolphins defense also had a big day. They didn't force any turnovers, but they made Chiefs quarterback Matt Cassell miserable all day. They got to Cassell for a total of 5 sacks on the day. For comparison, the Chiefs defense never got to Matt Moore. It was a big day for the Dolphins and especially head coach Tony Sparano. While Sparano is not expected back in 2012, this was a big win for him. He gets to survive another week, and probably the entire season. Who knows, maybe this is the first of 9 straight wins to give the Dolphins a winning record. If that is the case, Sparano still has a fighting chance to remain the coach beyond this season. Odds are very much against that, but who knows after the show the team put on today. It feels good to see the Dolphins win again. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK IN THE FINHEAVEN FORUMS!
