DOLPHINS TRIM ROSTER TO 78 PLAYERS ON SATURDAY

The third preseason game is in the books as the Dolphins lost to the Atlanta Falcons 23-6 on Friday night. Now the team must trim the roster to 75 players by Monday at 4:00PM ET. The Dolphins got a head start on Saturday as they released 9 players and placed one on the PUP/NFI Reserved List. These moves brings the Dolphins roster to 78 players, so three more moves will need to be made in the next 48 hours. The 9 players who were released today were cornerbacks Jonathan Wade, Trenton Hughes and Marcus Brown, safety Tyrell Johnson, defensive tackle Chas Alecxih, defensive end Jacquies Smith, linebacker Josh Linam, tight end Les Brown, and running back Jerome Messam. Running back Jonas Gray was the player placed on the PUP/NFI Reserved list. Monday's deadline of 75 players is just the first major cut down day next week. The team will need to cut the roster down to 53 players by 9:00PM ET next Friday. This week will likely be full of rumors of potential trades around the league and so far the Dolphins are already involved in some. There has been speculation that either quarterback Matt Moore or David Garrard could be shopped for the right price and that Miami could be in the market to try and acquire a WR from another team.
