DOLPHINS ACQUIRE 2013 2ND ROUND PICK FROM INDIANAPOLIS
The Dolphins made a trade on Sunday, but it wasn't one to address the glaring hole at wide receiver. The Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts agreed on a trade that sent backup cornerback Vontae Davis to the Colts in exchange for a 2nd round pick in the 2013 draft according to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald is reporting that a player being sent to the Dolphins could also be in the works, but nothing is confirmed. The trade comes at a curious time as the team is just two weeks away from opening the regular season. Davis had lost his starting job to free agent pickup Richard Marshall, but still figured to be a key piece in the secondary this season. Trading a former 1st round pick after just three seasons for only a 2nd round pick is not likely going to go over well with the Dolphins fan base. The Dolphins appear to be headed into a rebuilding year by trading away their Pro Bowl WR, a former 1st round pick cornerback and starting a rookie quarterback. The silver lining with this trade is that Miami could be gearing up for a big offseason in 2013, as they have over $50 million in cap space and now have 5 draft picks in the first 3 rounds.
