PARCELLS MAY RETURN IN 2010 Though the Dolphins have started the 2009 season 0-2, and some fans have questioned Bill Parcells and whether he still "has it" at 68 years old, there is no denying he has fixed this franchise. Some fans are upset with Parcells after last night's heartbreaking 27-23 loss to the Indianapolis Colts, but let's just back up and think about it a little more. It was a tough loss and a game Miami SHOULD have won, but this was a team that was 1-15 just two seasons ago. The fact that we as Dolphin fans can sit here two years later, coming off a division championship season in 2008 and be upset we lost a CLOSE game to Indianapolis, who is an elite team in the NFL. Parcells' magic is also why Miami was able to host this game on Monday Night Football. So, before we run to his house with torches and pitch forks, let's just remember where we were before he took over. Parcells made the Dolphin relevant again. The 2008 season probably spoiled fan's hopes for the 2009 season, but we do need to remember that while the Dolphins are defending a division championship, this is still a team in transition. Parcells has been building this team with the help of head coach Tony Sparano and GM Jeff Ireland over the past two years. What this team needs to continue to grow and improve is continuity in the front office. That is why the news today from an interview with Owner Stephen Ross is encouraging news. While some fans are worried that Ross' movement to "glitz" up the game day experience may drive Parcells out of town, Ross explains that is not the case. "Bill is aware of everything we're doing, and certainly very positive. Having the stadium filled with fans -- that's the most important thing, that 12th man. That's what they want to see. Whatever it takes to do that they're solidly behind. What he's building here, he wants to probably see it succeed and be here to bear the fruits of what he's doing. ... He came home to a place that I think is probably going to be where he makes his last mark, his last stand, so to speak." So here is hoping Parcells can continue to groom this team for the long haul. So far he has transformed this team from a late night talk show punch line, to a team that can compete game in and game out with the NFL eilte. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK IN THE FINHEAVEN FORUMS!
