The Dolphins on Monday were delt a blow to their backfield when they learned that running back Patrick Cobbs would miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL during the team's 31-27 victory over the New York Jets.

With Cobbs being placed on IR, the team acted quickly and signed rookie running back Kory Sheets off the San Francisco 49ers' practice squad. Sheets went undrafted in last April's NFL draft and spent the entire summer with the 49ers. His 3,341 yards rushing at Purdue University ranks second all-time in school history.
