This game represented the Dolphins season in so many ways. Gritty, hard fought, missed opportunities, lack of big plays, giving up big plays, out of it, in it, a chance, disappointment. I want to be a "good fan" and say I am not disappointed and that I am proud of our team. But I just can't do that right now. Maybe afer time has passed I can look at the sweep of the Jets (hell that feels better already!) etc. and find some positives. But right now I just keep thinking about Indy, Saints, Buffalo and now Tennessee. Games that were within our reach and that would have meant everything if we just pulled them out. I keep thinking about the stupid penalites, stupid throws, and costly fumbles. And I am just disappointed. It is really sad that I don't feel more satisfaction considering we had the toughest schedule in the NFL this year and almost made the playoffs. And let's get something straight right now...we are NOT going to the playoffs. Save me the formulas and what if scenarios. We are not going to the dance.

The key things in this game for me where:

1. Coverage. If Gebril Wilson isn't cut, then Sporano should be. This guy is the WORST safety in the league. He blows more coverages and is just bad.

2. Bad decisions and throws by Henne. He charms us into a state of love with beautiful throws then throws some crazy passes that gets picked.

3. Vontae Davis. Great coverage skills. Lousy ball skills. He seems to always be in position, but gets outplayed for the ball.

4. Why do we choose to put in our back-ups (Pat White, Lex Hilliard) at the most crucial time in games? STOP!

So there, it is off my chest. We had some good things and I will let you talk about them. I am not in the mood. I just want to cry in my beer, curse the Patriots, and wonder if the Dolphins will EVER put it all together. I mean Jesus we have not been a serious contender in years, decades. I am starting to feel like a Red Sox fan before they won. Are we reeling from the "curse of the WFL?" When Joe Robbie refused to pay Csonka, Warfield, and Kiick and they bolted for the World Football League did we anger the football Gods who now must torture us with teams who show glimpses but never quite get it together?  I mean really? When is this team going to put it together? We at best will finish 9-7 and I don't care how much sunshine you put on it, we are just not a championship caliber team. I am going to utter those word every fan hates to say. The ones that only come when all hope is gone and they are gut wrenchingly crushed at another year out of contention. The words of defeat.

Maybe next year.
