DOLPHINS HIRE MIKE NOLAN AS NEW DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR

Team also hires Bill Sheridan as LB Coach

                               TEAM MAKES A BRILLIANT MOVE

                    Mike Nolan

Nolan brings star power to the coaching staff

On the front page of this site I found myself writing after almost every Dolphin loss "the defense was horrible today".  There was no doubt that the team was giving up way too many points and frequently seemed out of sync. Blown coverags all over the field, not enough pressure on the opposing QB when we needed it. We just seemed in a funk. The team went out today and made a strong statement about improving that side of the ball by hirirng Mike Nolan as Defensive Cooordinator and Bill Sheridan as Linebackers Coach. But it was more than a statement, it was a sweeping overhaul of philosophy and attitude. Nolan arrived in Denver this year as Defensive Cooridinator and created an immediate turnaround with the Bronco defense. Prior to that he was Head Coach at with the San Francisco Forty Niners from 2005-2008. He is known as an agressive defensive play caller and will bring a much more attacking style of defense to the Miami Dolphins. We are better today with Mike Nolan than we ever could have been with Pasqualoni. This is a brilliant hire by Parcells/Ireland/Sporano.

Sheridan was the Defensive Coordinator for the NY Giants last year and will bring some real solid coaching experience to the team. He was the Giants LB coach during their Super Bowl year prior to being promoted.

Funny isn't it? When you watch all the canddiates (Groh, Butler, Zimmer) all disappear and it seems like the team has run out of options, they pull a home run move out of their hat. Make no mistake about it, this is a serious, serious upgrade to the defensive coaching staff.

So how about some talent now to give these guys something to work with?
