BRYAN COX JOINS 2011 DOLPHINS COACHING STAFF
On Monday, the Dolphins added former star Dolphin linebacker Bryan Cox to the team's coaching staff for the upcoming 2011 season. Cox was named as the team's Pass Rush coach, which is a position specially created for the former three time Pro Bowler. While the Dolphins offensive staff saw a great deal of change this offseason, the Defensive staff, which helped guide the NFL's sixth ranked defense, saw no coaching changes. Cox will help Defensive Coordinator Mike Nolan and Linebackers coach Bill Sherdian improve the team's pass rush and help the continued development of Pro Bowl outside linebacker Cameron Wake and second year outside linebacker Koa Misi. While the defensive side of the ball does not need much change this offseason, the addition of Cox to the coaching staff is considered a welcomed boost. Cox spent the past two seasons as the Defensive Line coach of the Cleveland Browns and prior to that stint spent three seasons as the Assistant Defensive Line coach with the New York Jets.
