Dolphins blow out Jets, but lose Tannehill to injury PDF Print E-mail
Written by Josh Evans

DOLPHINS ROUT JETS 30-9

Dolphins 30 Jets 9

The Dolphins day had somewhat mixed emotions. On one hand the Dolphins destroyed the New York Jets 30-9, but they saw their rookie first round franchise quarterback exit the game with a quad/knee injury in the first quarter. Ryan Tannehill exited the game and never returned, and while there currently is no official word on the significance of the injury, it was encouraging that he was on the sideline during the second half.

With Tannehill out early in the game, the Dolphins didn't miss a beat with 2011 starter Matt Moore filling in. Moore had a respectable day going 11 of 19 for 131 yards, 1 touchdown and no interceptions.

The Dolphins were stellar in all three phases of the game, including special teams where kicker Dan Carpenter was 3 of 3 on field goals, rookie Olivier Vernon recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown and blocked a field goal, they recovered a surprise onside kick and Marcus Thigpen had a 57 yard kickoff return.

Daniel Thomas, returning from his second concussion this season had a three yard touchdown run in the second quarter and Anthony Fasano was on the receiving end of the four yard touchdown pass by Moore in the third quarter.

The Dolphins remain in second place in the division, moved above .500 at 4-3 and will travel to Indianapolis next week to take on the Colts.
