HOLLIDAY RELEASED BY DOLPHINS The Dolphins on Monday released 11 year defensive end Vonnie Holliday. Holliday's four year tenure ends with the Dolphins and he is now free to shop himself to the other 31 teams. The decision to release Holliday stems from the team not wanting to pay a $1.5 million bonus that was due on Tuesday. The Dolphins free up $3.25 million for the 2009 season with the release. Phillip Merling, who rotated at defensive end with Holliday during 2008, now becomes the full time starter. The Dolphins are likely to add another defensive end in free agency or the draft.
