ENOUGH! Peezy Talks A Lot and Then Doesn't Show Up When He Is Needed We Say He Has to Go! Porter blames the scheme. We blame Joey. In the past few days Joey Porter has gone public about his desire to leave the Miami Dolphins. Joey claims he isn't being used properly and that he wants to play somewhere else where he can play full time. Remember this is the same scheme that last year got him a career high 17.5 sacks. But now...its the scheme. Well the reason Joey wasn't more productive is because Joey wasn't effective. He struggled with an injury all year and was slowed so it was only natural that the team had to play other players. Joey also is getting older and the team has to explore young players while he struggled. But Joey, poor Joey didn't get his spotlight so instead of being a team player he is just all about being "Peezy". So he is whining in the press about how it's the teams fault and he doesn't want to be a part of it. Well I say get rid of him. I feel like this guy just has done a lot of talking and has not earned his keep. This is not take away from his great year last year. But that was one year and it was not what we hoped when we signed him. I just remember Joey on more than one occassion running his mouth and calling out players on other teams and then going silent during the game. Man he talks an awful lot. But when the big games come where does Joey go? He is invisible and we llost too many of those games. He just doesn't DESERVE to brag like he does. And now instead of being a professional and asking for his release quietly and professionally, he has got to go on a media tour and complain. Give me a break. I say let him go. Send him, his fat contract and his empty promises to some other team. We don't need him and we don't want him anymore. He is just a reminder of what is always lurking out there that is bad about pro sports. Over-hyped players who are self promoting, full of bravado, and who turn on their team when their egos get bruised. Maybe I am old school, but give me the Zach Thomas of the world who goes out and makes an impact every game and dominates his position and then shuts up and does it again the next week. When the team and he parted ways he was grateful and respectful. So get a low round draft pick or just out and out cut him. But Joey must go. Talk About it in the FinHeaven Forums |

CARPENTER KICKS HIS WAY INTO PRO BOWL Second year kicker Dan Carpenter was named to the AFC Pro Bowl roster on Wednesday after San Diego Chargers kicker Nate Kaeding pulled out with an injury. This will be Carpenter's first trip to the Pro Bowl and now gives the Dolphins three Pro Bowlers from the 2009 season. Carpenter joins left tackle Jake Long and safety Yeremiah Bell as the only Dolphins to make the team. Long will not play due to an injury. Carpenter only missed three field goal attempts all year and connected on two game winning field goals against the Buccaneers and Patriots. TELL US WHAT YOU THINK IN THE FINHEAVEN FORUMS! |

DOLPHINS HIRE MIKE NOLAN AS NEW DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR Team also hires Bill Sheridan as LB Coach TEAM MAKES A BRILLIANT MOVE Nolan brings star power to the coaching staff On the front page of this site I found myself writing after almost every Dolphin loss "the defense was horrible today". There was no doubt that the team was giving up way too many points and frequently seemed out of sync. Blown coverags all over the field, not enough pressure on the opposing QB when we needed it. We just seemed in a funk. The team went out today and made a strong statement about improving that side of the ball by hirirng Mike Nolan as Defensive Cooordinator and Bill Sheridan as Linebackers Coach. But it was more than a statement, it was a sweeping overhaul of philosophy and attitude. Nolan arrived in Denver this year as Defensive Cooridinator and created an immediate turnaround with the Bronco defense. Prior to that he was Head Coach at with the San Francisco Forty Niners from 2005-2008. He is known as an agressive defensive play caller and will bring a much more attacking style of defense to the Miami Dolphins. We are better today with Mike Nolan than we ever could have been with Pasqualoni. This is a brilliant hire by Parcells/Ireland/Sporano. Sheridan was the Defensive Coordinator for the NY Giants last year and will bring some real solid coaching experience to the team. He was the Giants LB coach during their Super Bowl year prior to being promoted. Funny isn't it? When you watch all the canddiates (Groh, Butler, Zimmer) all disappear and it seems like the team has run out of options, they pull a home run move out of their hat. Make no mistake about it, this is a serious, serious upgrade to the defensive coaching staff. So how about some talent now to give these guys something to work with?
