ERIC GREEN SIGNS MULTI-YEAR DEAL

 Eric Green

The Dolphins on Thursday addressed their cornerback position with the signing of former Cardinal Eric Green to a multi-year deal.

Green, who has started 33 games over the past four seasons will compete with Jason Allen for the cornerback position left vacant by the departure of Andre Goodman.

KANTARIAN JOINS DOLPHINS AS SENIOR ADVISER

 Arlen Kantarian

New Dolphins owner Stephen Ross has hired Former U.S. Tennis Association CEO Arlen Kantarian as his Senior Adviser.

Kantarian was in the running late last year to take a top executive position with the Dolphins, but decided not to pursue the role. Instead, Kantarian is looking elsewhere for a new CEO position, but will work with Ross on a part time basis.

Kantarian's job will include commercial interests for the Dolphins and Dolphin Stadium. Kantarian reportedly has already held several naming-rights meetings for Dolphin Stadium.

CB ERIC GREEN VISITS WITH DOLPHINS

 Eric Green

The Dolphins lost starting cornerback Andre' Goodman to the Denver Broncos earlier this week and are moving forward to find his replacements. The Dolphins on Wednesday hosted free agent cornerback Eric Green, formerly of the NFC Champion Arizona Cardinals.

Green was a third round pick in the 2005 NFL draft by the Cardinals and has started 33 games the past four seasons. If signed by the Dolphins, Green would likely compete with Jason Allen for the starting cornerback spot opposite Will Allen.

FINS EXPECTED TO SIGN JAKE GROVE PDF Print E-mail

MIAMI ADDS  A STARTING CENTER...AND SOME ATTITUDE

                                  Announcement Expected Today!

          Grove

The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel is reporting that Oakland Raiders Center Jake Grove will be signed by the Miami Dolphins today. The terms of the contract are not known at this time. Grove was a highly regarded Center coming out of college and has a reputation for being a mean and rough player, the sort of nastiness that you want in an offensive lineman. He has had injury issues that have kept him off the field a great deal and Grove's full potential has yet to be realized. This means Miami will most likely shift Satele to Guard or perhaps trade him outright for draft picks. It also fills another need for the team as they can now focus on a few more key areas such as Corner and Wide Reciever.

HOLLIDAY RELEASED BY DOLPHINS

 Vonnie Holliday

The Dolphins on Monday released 11 year defensive end Vonnie Holliday. Holliday's four year tenure ends with the Dolphins and he is now free to shop himself to the other 31 teams.

The decision to release Holliday stems from the team not wanting to pay a $1.5 million bonus that was due on Tuesday. The Dolphins free up $3.25 million for the 2009 season with the release.

Phillip Merling, who rotated at defensive end with Holliday during 2008, now becomes the full time starter. The Dolphins are likely to add another defensive end in free agency or the draft.

Dolphins Lose Their Best Corner To Denver

Signs 5 Year $25M Contract With Broncos

              Goodman

Tim Graham of ESPN reports that Andre Goodman and his team leading five interceptions were lost via free agency to the Denver Broncos. It was expected that the team would work hard to retain the up and coming Goodman, but apparently they were unwilling to match the contract offer from Denver. Goodman has shown steady improvement and was a strong presence on and off the field for the Miami Dolphins. The team now is in dire need of help at the Cornerback position and will have to find answers via trade or the draft. Goodman joins former Dolphin Renaldo Hill who also signed with Denver during this free agency period.
