With Vance Joseph headed to Denver to become their new head coach Miami was left to figure out who they would want to replace him as defensive coordinator. Instead of going through a lengthy search to find the next DC the Dolphins applied their "next man up" mentality to their coaching staff and promoted from within. Matt Burke was promoted from linebackers coach to Defensive Coordinator earlier today.
Burke has been in the league since 2008 where joined the Tennessee Titans an administrative assistant and defensive assistant. He then moved on to the Detroit Lions as their linebacker coach and helped lead the Lions defense a 6th ranked defense in 2013. In 2014 Burke moved on to Cincinnati and helped them to achieve the second-best scoring defense in 2015. Burke came to Miami last year with new head coach Adam Gase and his new staff.
