Miami Snaps Losing Streak vs. Buffalo

The Miami Dolphins haven't had many bright spots versus the Buffalo Bills in recent years. That all changed on Thursday night. The Dolphins overcame another slow start and finished off the Bills 22-9 and also ending their three game losing streak to them.

The defense put in another solid effort, limiting the Bills to just three field goals. Brent Grimes did a great job of shutting down wide receiver Sammy Watkins. Ryan Tannehill threw two touchdown passes to rookie Jarvis Landry and Brandon Gibson in the second half. The offensive line held their own despite facing one of the leagues best defensive fronts. Lamar Miller rushed for 86 yards and had his longest run of the season.

All in all it was a great team effort after only having 4 days between games. The win over the Bills is a big step for the Dolphins in their post season hunt. At 6-4 (5-2 in the conference), they are only two games behind AFC Leaders Denver and New England and they get to play both teams starting next week in Denver. Thankfully for the Dolphins they have 10 days to prepare for the game.

      Miami's Surge Not Enough

Two of the NFL's best defenses were matched up today. Despite their best efforts the Dolphins defense fell short of containing the Detroit Lions on their final drive as the Dolphins succumbed to the Lions in a 20-16 loss.

Miami fell behind 10-0 in the first half but were able to battle back and maintain a lead in the fourth quarter. The Dolphins came within seconds of continuing their winning streak of three games but Matt Stafford completed a third down pass for the go ahead touchdown with under a minute to go. It was a solid effort by the Dolphins, who have been really stingy on the road this year, but they need to figure a way out to have a killer instinct and put teams away late in games when they have opportunities to do so.

The 5-4 Dolphins have no time to sulk over their loss as they have a very important game coming up on Thursday night versus division rival, Buffalo Bills. The offense took a blow today as star left tackle Branden Albert seems to have suffered a major injury. Hopefully the Dolphins can bounce back and put an end to a three game losing streak vs the Bills.

Dolphins Dominate , Blank The Bolts

The Miami Dolphins faced arguably their most important game of the season and they made a point today that they are a force to be reckoned with. The Dolphins dominated every aspect of the game as they rendered the San Diego Charger helpless in a 37-0 victory. The defense ended a San Diego drive on the first series and once the offense got the ball they never looked back. The Dolphins seemed to rally around their head coach Joe Philbin, who lost his father earlier in the week.

Ryan Tannehill took control of the offense, leading the Dolphins to seven scoring drives in three quarters of play. Rookie wide receiver Jarvis Landry, tight end Charles Clay and wide receiver Mike wallace helped out all day long also, making big catches at critical times.

Veteran quarterback Philip Rivers was unable to overcome the Dolphins defensive onslaught. The defense turned in an unbelievable performance, forcing a fumble and stealing three interceptions. Safety Reshad Jones (1 int) and cornerback Bent Grimes (2 int) continued with their solid seasons.

The Dolphins have now won three games in a row and four of the last five. If the defense can continue to turn in dominating performances and Ryan Tannehill maintains his efficiency there is no reason this team can't keep the winning going as the season progresses. They face another test next Sunday when they travel north to face the Detroit Lions at 1pm on CBS.
