Defensive Star Agrees to 6 Year Contract

Citing a report from ESPN's Chris Mortensen, the Miami Dolphins have made an agreement to sign Ndamukong Suh to a six year contract. Unless something drastic happens between now and the opening of free agency period on Tuesday, the contract for Suh will be an estimated $114 million with $60 million guaranteed. The Detroit Lions, Suh's former team, have been rumored to be in a bidding war with the Dolphins since the "tampering period" began on Saturday. It appears the Lions have fell short in their bid to retain the four time all-pro defensive lineman. Suh has been one of the most dominating players since he entered the league and will provide the the Dolphins porous run defense a welcome boost. The Dolphins may have just made the biggest free agent signing in the history of the franchise and hopefully Suh can become the cornerstone of the defense and help take this team to the next level for many years to come.

Wide Receiver Corps Gets Thinner Today

The Miami Dolphins are heading in a new direction and today they made it abundantly clear. Hours after releasing Brian Hartline they made the same decision with wide receiver Brandon Gibson. Gibson never lived up to the potential the Dolphins envisioned. After an injury plagued 2013 season, he had a dismal showing this past season and was unseated by rookie Jarvis Landry. Following the two cuts today the Dolphins are currently $12 million under the salary cap. Mike Wallace's future with the team is still unknown but with the cost cutting transactions made today, it is clear the Dolphins will be in the market for wide receivers when the free agency period begins March 10th and presumably in the draft.
