Looks like his ligament is partially torn. I really doubt that he will play this weekend but no official word will be released till later in the week, IMO. I have Benson on one of my benches and just lost McAllister for the season...so I will be keeping a very close eye on this too.
This is from KFFL:
Bears | Jones Likely to Miss Week 6
Tue, 11 Oct 2005 09:54:59 -0700
Updating previous reports, K.C. Johnson, of the Chicago Tribune, reports Chicago Bears RB Thomas Jones (knee) had an MRI which showed a stretched lateral collateral ligament (LCL). The results are being sent to surgeon James Andrews for a second opinion, but it is likely Jones will not be able to play against the Minnesota Vikings during Week 6.
So Benson will likely be the starter.
Done for 4 to 6 weeks
The Postseason Patriots are dead, at least for this season. And Brady isn't quite sure what to do with the playoffs marching on without him.
"It's going to be hard to watch those games," he said. "Can both teams lose?"
Is Benson worth picking up for just this week...? I had a tough time choosing between him and Bettis, I figured Bettis is good for AT LEAST 1 TD in the goaline situation.
I'd go with Bettis over Benson since it now looks like Thomas Jones won't be out as long as it was initially thought. Bettis is gonna give you some points week in and week out as long as he stays healthy. Benson only has this week to prove himself and may only help you for one week at that if T. Jones comes back. How about picking up both?Originally Posted by painnotpleasure
