Why do people feel the need to tell other people what movies to watch?

You know what's pissing JJ off right now? I'll tell you what -- it's people telling him to see An Inconvenient Truth, that Al Gore documentary that is apparently one big slide show.

Why do people do this? In the last two weeks, I have gotten no fewer than a dozen messages from various people urging me to "find time" to see this "important" film.

This isn't the only time it has ever happened. I remember a little bit of it happening with The Passion of the Christ. I remember a lot of it from Schindler's List, The Sixth Sense, and Saving Private Ryan.

Who the **** do these people think they are? I don't go about telling people they must find time to go see Clerks 2 or even a high quality film like Goodfellas. In fact, I don't tell anybody what they need to find time to do or what is important. Just exactly what motivates people to act in this self important manner?

I've got so many lawyers lined up to see me, you'd think I had tobacco leaking out of my breast implants.

You should watch Braveheart too. Good movie.

How was Schindler's list by the way ? I just bought it, and I've yet to watch it. Am I in for a good one ?

Simple answer to the question. People think that if they loved a certain movie everyone they know will as well. However, there is a serious flaw in this logic seeing as we are all individuals with different tastes and likes. :goof:

No. This started here. It's not about politics. It's about people who pick a movie and ram it down my throat. That's a lounge topic.

ehh I've had many instances where I had no intention of seeing or doing something until someone kept pushing me to it...and then absolutely loved it. But I see what your saying.

I think we're talking about slightly different things. For instance, I know somebody who really, really wanted me to see Bottle Rocket because she thought I'd really like it. I relented and loved it.

This is more the "everyone should see it" phenomenon. I think that's what really pisses me off.
