Buchanan: Hispanics Are Un-American Because They Embrace The "Rap Culture"

The media is lavishing attention on Pat Buchanan and his new book that argues that whites are the only race with the “genetic endowments” to prevent America from collapsing.

Yesterday on Hannity and Colmes, Pat Buchanan asserted that Hispanic immigrants were “not assimilated into America” because they were adopting “rap culture.” Watch it:

Rap music, according to the U.S. State Department, is “an original American art form.” It has its roots, however, in African-American culture, not white culture. For Buchanan, apparently, that means it’s un-American.

Wow I too am not american because I am hispanic and I love rap music. Thanks for setting me straigh Mr. Buchanan.
Sounds a bit like social darwinism to me. I hope and I am sure, most of white america is too smart to buy into that dead and gone theory.

the guy is just the riding in Samuel Huntington's wake. He doesn't have one major idea that is even slightly original, but presents them like they are revolutionary. Hannity nearly went down on the guy.
the idea that America's values and/or racial purity is being diluted by foreigners isn't new, and that sort of thinking has given rise to some of the most brutal little 'cleansing' movements and policies in our nation's history

Immigration today is not like immigration one hundered years ago. For one, they are illegal. If you want to become an American, the door is always open, but do it through the proper channels. Secondly, they are not assimilating. Finally, there is a security issue to consider. Our borders are porous, and letting hordes of people come over illegally is especially disconcerting is this day and age.

There are also economic concerns, such as health care strain and the effect on wages. Again, everyone is basically an immigrant, and diversity is good for America. Asking those coming to do it legally and properly isn't too much to ask.

In most cases it is. It takes a ridiculous amount of effort for even the most qualified to become US citizens. Would an uneducated Mexican immigrant ever be allowed to gain full citizenship?
