My turn my turn! Trade prospect with Redskins...

The first blurb I was just going to let go but now I've seen two, which makes it an official whisper.

The Redskins are interested in stockpiling back some of those mid to late round picks that they don't have anymore because of their RFA endeavors.

Specifically the most recent blurb on PFT mentions that they are going to try and stockpile them by trading down their 2nd round pick.

So what if we offer them a cocktail that involves our tradeable 5th round pick, 3rd rounder, our tradeable 7th rounder, an agreement NOT to match Jermaine Haley's offer sheet, Derrick Rodgers (the Skins have poor LB depth too), etc...to get hold of their 2nd round pick.

That would give us a good chance of getting Pisa T, a good LT, or good WR....we'll get two of the three. Heck, I would even settle for the ability to be able to trade both of those 2nd round picks to move up into the late first if someone we really really like starts dropping.

Its a pipe dream I know, it just doesn't seem like we have the ammo, but if you add Arturo Freeman into the mix...well, I think that would put us over the edge.

Just another thing. The Redskins are ALSO thinking about trading Fred Smoot for a SECOND ROUND PICK on draft day.

Guys I know the last thing we would want to see on draft day is us use our 2nd rounder to get another CB prospect, but we're talkin about Fred Smoot here. At the very least I would think we would be able to dangle Fred in trade with someone else to get hold of a viable left tackle....a rare three team trade.

    Just thinkin out loud...

Fred Smoot was torched all lat season. He was very good as a rookie, but was not so good last year at all. That is why they want to trade him, of course they're wanting to get picks, but the reason they'll trade him is they saw he regressed last year and his mouth does not lend to cohesiveness in the locker room.

Plus, giving up a 3rd,5th, Haley,Rodgers, and a 7th is a bit much for a 2nd isn't it? Maybe not, but it seems like quite a bit for what we get in return.

How about a lot too much...

I kind of think that Rodgers a third and a fifth should get the Redskins 2nd round pick...

but do they need a lb?

No Phinstd, a 3rd, 5th, 7th, Haley, and Rodgers is not a lot for a 2nd round pick.

Why? Haley...we're probably not going to match his offer sheet anyway. So our offer of promising not to match him, will likely not hold much weight. Heck even if matching his offer were a credible threat, he's probably only worth a 5th in trade anyway. Rodgers is going to be cut June 1st, and therefore we're lucky to even get a 6th for him...which is what Green Bay was thinking of offering...

So lets settle on a 7th as Rodgers' price, a 5th (ridiculous cuz our threat of matching is not credible) for Haley....then we're trading up from round 3 to round and in return giving up two 5ths, and two 7ths.

Does that seem like too much? Not to me...

    CK...no offense...

but I am glad you are not making the trade...we wouldn't get a bale of hay for Haley.

    Just kidding!

Fletcher has how many int's in his first 2 years? Smoot has 9(5 in the first year, 4 in the 2nd.)

Yeah really there's no reason to say that Smoot is merely as good as or worst than Fletcher.

Smoot may have regressed a bit in his first year, but then again so did Chambers.
