the defense [thankfully] is keeping tabs on one mr. ronnie brown!
there is a comment posted in the herald about ronnie getting comfortable
with his place on the team and yuking it up with the guys.
but the defense has pointedly reminded him.....
i know the sabanists will be blaming the o-line ALL YEAR for ronniesAlthough the defensive players accept the change in demeanor, they also want a change in production.
'We'll joke around, hang out and go back and forth, but we also tell him, `Dude, you should run for 1,500 yards this year,' '' Carter said.
' `You're the man. You've got all the talent, you've got the great line in front of you. We're going to support you on defense.' That's our attitude towards him. I think he accepts that now more readily than a year ago. I think a year ago he was trying to get his feet wet and do the best he could.''
lack of production. but i agree witht he defense, the o-line is more
than good enough to run behind and ronnie should be producing
some BIG yards.
as i have said over and over, ricky could get 1450 yds out of this line
even WITH benny anderson [who won't be on the line long].
number 2 over all!! 20+ mill up front and a huge salary means we should
see production fitting what he makes and where he was picked.
and i am glad the defense is letting him know it!!!!!
LET THE BEGIN!!!!
I agree. I had not thought about that.. Ricky did run all those yds, with the OLine we had in the Wannstedt era.Originally Posted by Redneck Friend

Got Dr. Pepper?
I think they are simply backing up their starting RB, and OL. What did you expect them to say, well I think Ronnie will struggle this year because our OL sucks. I mean I think it is great to sync up the team, but in reality, if the he doesn't do well, then it will be nature for fans, and the media, to provide an explanation, whether it is the line or him (more likely the line)
Ricky's a cutter and Ronnie is a straight ahead runner (in my admitted limited football knowledge). So, unless I'm wrong, you need to run straight THRU a hole, in order to be successful. Why do you think Ricky always bounced it outside? Cause the inside was all bundled up. Ronnie doesn't break it outside, so if the OL doesn't open any gaps, it will be a long year for Ronnie.
his lack of production? why do you already assume that he is going to have a lack of production? with the same line last year, ricky and ronnie had the same yards per carry, so that would equate to similar numbers of 1450 yards for ronnie this year with this oline, even with bennie anderson.Originally Posted by Redneck Friend
did you even watch the panthers game? there were, on two or three occasions, 3 or 4 panthers in the backfield by the time ronnie even GOT the ball. i don't see how that's ronnie's fault. the offensive line needs to step up if ronnie's going to have a good year.
ronnies gonna have a huge year, but even still he'll need the line to do well... when we had the ****ty line ricky only had like a 3.5 ypc, we cant do that...
