Two burglary suspects whose car stalled while trying to elude police early Thursday were seriously injured when they jumped off a dark bridge and fell 30 feet on to the ground, missing water, according to police.
Investigators said three men allegedly robbed an Applebee's restaurant in Orange City, Fla., late Wednesday night.
After the crime, deputies chased the men down I-4 to the St. Johns River Bridge, where their car stalled.
All three men decided to jump off the bridge to escape, the report said.
"They jumped over the St. Johns River Bridge, probably thinking it would be just a few feet drop," Local 6's Jessica Sanchez said. "Well, they feel a good 30 feet and they didn't hit water, they hit solid ground."
Two men were seriously injured, including one man who was apparently paralyzed after the jump.
