    The Holes

Here are the holes in our team:

    Quarterbacks
: Daunte needs to regain his confidence and learn how to play outdoors. He also needs to learn to get rid of the ball faster and fumble less. He was a more effective quarterback when he was risky and aggressive. Now he's just a conservative *****. Joey Harrington sucks. Now I'm starting to remember why I wanted Brees instead of Culpepper six months ago...

Runningbacks: Darian Barnes apparently can't block a nine year old kid rushing to sack his 39 year old father. Ronnie Brown is really disappointing me, as far as the RUNNING part goes. He's not putting up big numbers and isn't doing much to help are team, considering we're still losing. He shows some flashes, like Chambers, but is still inconsistent. Although I don't totally blame Ronnie; he makes good plays in open field. I really blame the offensive line, but a big back like Ronnie must make more plays inn the backfield. He's gotta step up his play. I have yet to see Lee Suggs play; I don't expect much out of him. Sammy Morris is suspended and I'm very much looking forward to the return of Ricky Williams and having him start again.

Wide Recievers: Chris Chambers has yet to prove he can step up and make big time pressure plays or show some sort of consistency. He's done nearly nothing so far this year and has been, for the most part, shut down by a mediocre secondary against Buffalo and an average corner in Ike Taylor (well, above average, 2nd tier of corners). I still believe in Marty Booker, he is still as reliable as ever. Wes Welker continues to be a favorite of mine. For the most part, our recievers are set, but Chambers NEEDS to step up. Derek Hagan is playing as good as a rookie is expected to play. He just needs more oppurtunities.

Offensive Line: Agaisnt Pittsburgh, the pass blocking looked great but the run blocking was horrible. I thought maybe it was just because of the Steelers defense, but apparently not. Our run block still sucks and now into the season, with game tape to watch, it seems like our pass block sucks too. Seven sacks (in the first half believe? correct me if I'm wrong)? That's absolutely horrible. Our offensive line is full of nobodys who are just average players put in a very good blocking scheme. We don't have the players for a good offensive line yet. Teams must have a good offensive line to have success. Saban needs to focus on developing the Offensive line into a consistent unit and they need to develop chemistry. I get the feeling that our lineman play as themselves. They don't play as a single line, a single unit. I see games like the Jaguars game tonight and they play like a real line. The Vikings play like a real line. We need an elite Tackle or Guard, very very soon at that. Saban needs to scrap this whole line in order to develop a new line.

Secondary: Alright, our safeties flat out SUCK. They give up far too many big plays and can't react to the ball well. Travares Tillman is starting for this team? Cut his *** immediately. Micheal Lehan? That bonehead may have very well indirectly cost us the game in Week 1. Will Allen made the same mistake against Buffalo, giving up a very costly pass interference penalty. I understand Will Allen has great speed, but isn't aggressive and can't make plays. Giants fans I know hate him. Travis Daniels had shown almost nothing to prove that he's more than just another average cornerback in this league. Jason Allen I hope starts very soon and I hope he adjusts to this defense. If not, it's another wasted pick by Saban.

Defensive Line: This part of the team sheds some light of optimism, yet very dim. The line is old and the only youngster who shows promise is Matt Roth. Jason Taylor isn't the game changing player he once was. He is nothing like Julius Peppers or John Abraham anymore. The Steelers shut him down and he was not a factor. Apparently he didn't do anything in Buffalo, seeing as how the defense didn't do much to stop the Bills; the Bills just suck so bad they couldn't do anything on offense. This line couldn't stop Willie Parker nor Willis McGahee. Time to invest in younger guys.

Linebackers: Channing Crowder I hope turns into a quarterback-like linebacker. Urlacher and Ray Lewis have that quality. They can control a game from their position. Zach Thomas can't do that anymore (Was he ever able to do that? His early years were before I paid attention to the NFL). The rest of Miami's linebackers are mediocre at best. Channing Crowder must develop into a game-controlling linebacker and take Zach's place and fill his shoes and then a lot some.

Special Teams: Justin Peele blew the block he needed to execute to protect Donnie Jones on that blocked punt. Wes Welker continues to be a reliable man on Special Teams. Hopefully he can make a few more big plays next week, as he did in Pittsburgh, to help inspire the team to a win.

I do not exaggerate on any point I made. I believe each and every word I said in this post and I believe that I see this team as a 7-9 team now. If the Bills can beat us, who else can? Please give your two cents, anyone.

I would also like to add that Mike Mularky has no idea how to coach Culpepper. Let him air it out like he did in Minnesota. Let him play Linehan's system the way it's supposed to be played.

ronnie running is disappointing? are you serious when he does get a chance he has been good, this week he had 60+ yards at the half averaging well over 4 yards a carry and yet we run him 3 times in the second half? and against pitt we abandoned the run all together all though he was starting to get some hard yards

    thank you

I know Ronnie Brown is a good back. I'm saying he needs to step up his game with the oppurtunities he gets. Saban doesn't run him hard enough. His 4+ yards a carry aren't carrying this team anywhere right now either.

Yeah you're a genius, if stating the obvious makes one a genius.
    In Philbin I trust:

    • As offensive coordinator (OC) of Green Bay from 07-10, his offenses ranked in the top 10 in both total yards and scoring.
    • Green Bay has reached the playoffs in three of Philbinís four seasons as OC.
    • As OC at Harvard (97-98), the Crimson established 15 offensive records.
    • Philbin spent four seasons (90-93) at Allegheny College, highlighted by two undefeated regular seasons and an NCAA Division III national championship in 90.

Except everyone around here is too stubborn to realize the team sucks right now. Don't forget, I posted this shortly after the Bills game. It's Week 5 and I'm right on the money.

Hey, I was saying this team sucked during preseason. BTW, I think we CAN be a good team if we run the ball more, get Morris involved in that running game, keep Harrington as the starter, and help Mularkey with his play calling. We're close. The difference between winning and losing in this league of parity is razor thin.
