How I would handle this years draft

First of all I beleive in BPA and not reaching for need, but in an ideal world I would do the following come draft time:

    1. I would Draft A LT in round one and start him from day 1. The key he is to start him from day 1, the jets drafted two offensive lineman and started both the minute they got there and their offensive line has improved tremendously.

    2. I would draft a CB in rnd 2 and also start him from day 1.

Round 3: WR/TE/RB - I would draft the best player at one of these positions, anyone that trusts ricky will be back and ready to go needs to buy this bridge I have to sell.

Round 4: WR/TE/RB - whatever wwe didn't get in round 3 draft in round 4

    Round 6: Linebacker

    Round 7: Defensive Lineman

That would be my game plan.

I think LB in round 3 or maybe 4. Not to say you cant get quality in LB in later rounds ( see Zach Thomas)
I got $500 on the Dolphins to win the Superbowl.

i agree.but what sucks with the corners is that are schemes are so hard to learn, and pick up .hell the vets have a hard time, and dont get it until game 5 at least.if we played are old cover 2,with press coverage. it would be alot easier to draft a rookie and put him in from day one.but we dont do it any more.so if we do pick up a rooke cb,and he dosnt pick it up right away, everyone will say he's a bust.it's a tuff call.

You can't just say a LT in round one becuase when we pick it will be a huge reach for any Tackle we pick

You could list your needs by priority .... but you have to draft by BPA to an extent .... meaning:

IF there was a Merriman at our position this year -- you'd be crazy not to take him ....

Same could be said for LT, CB / S, WR or QB .... it depends upon the person and then the needs --- you can just NEVER pass up on a special player ... right now we have exactly 1 -- JT [ZT is not a special player - in the sense that teams do NOT game plan for him; other than putting their TEs against him in coverage -- JT they do]

    I was thinking this too.

In one sentence you say take BPA and not reach to fill a need and then in the next paragraph you're taking a LT when the BPA available when we pick won't be a LT.

I agree though....I think we should take the best DB, DL, LB, OL available in round 1.

Saban2005, just out of interest, who would you take a quality LT isnt available when we pick? :-)

I agree with BPA, who would you choose if we have 2 players that are the BPA but at different positions of need. Who wins out? I say LB over SS/CB b/c based on our current draft position unless some juniors change their mind we would be reaching for a OL.

    1. LB or SS/CB
    same for Round 2
    3. BPA
    4. RB/WR (possible steals) or BPA (If we could i will trade down and try and get a 5th rd pic---but hay thats dreaming)
    6. LB
    7. DL

BPA.....we have so many needs that I think we just need to rank players and then when we come to pick take BPA....just make sure the guys we take on Day One are capable of starting.
