    Man faces prison in 12-step apology case

    RICHMOND, Virginia (AP) -- More than two decades after he sexually assaulted a fellow student at a fraternity party, a man who later apologized to his victim as part of the 12-step Alcoholics Anonymous program faces sentencing for the crime.

    No one could tell me where my soul might be;
    I searched for God, but He eluded me;
    I sought my brother out and found all three.

    I have mixed feelings about this but ultimately, the guy did the crime and his victim has suffered for 20 some odd years. He came forward largely to make his life right and to fulfill two of the 12 steps and rolled the dice when he did so. I applaud him for his courage in confessing to the victim and to the police.
    1. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.
    2. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
