What would Patton say about Iraq?

This is an absolutely fantastic homage to Patton, and what he might say about our modern war with Iraq.

So, as you might expect with a Patton imitation, the language isn't exactly squeaky clean. So if you're touchy about that for some strange reason, I suppose don't watch it.

So, I first heard this clip on Mark Levin's show tonight, and came home and watched it. And it does kinda make you wonder how different the US would be if we'd had total wimps like Reid running the show back during WW2.

I personally think the message here is dead on, and wish more of our real leaders would speak up like this.

On the plus side we aren't facing Hitler's and Mussolinis either. Different times ask for different leaders.

we live in a world where victory in a historical sense in impossible. stormin norman is probably the last great US general. maybe this occupation should have been his job, but bush I made it clear there would be no occupation

sure its too late now. the wholesale killings, disarming and humiliation had to happen in '04. aside all else, the election nearby and freedom rhetoric ensured it would not

maybe freedom isnt really desired. maybe it has to be the last option when the others have been exhausted

its true the iraqis did not vote in huge numbers at a chance for freedom. they came out to make sure the right thugs were put in office to secure a power divide

    do i sound cynical tonight?

Perhaps they view the occupation as a barrier to freedom?

a barrier to taking the gloves off for some. for the decent arab the presence of the infidel bully that affords at least some protection is still worse than the alternative....until that alternative of chaos becomes a reality. then the fist shaking begins. makes for good TV

I don't even know where to begin.

I'll start with if there was something to win in Iraq, our great military would have already won it by now. In a way they did. They overthrew the regime and brought 'democracy' to Iraq. He actually touched on what must happen if there is to be any stability in Iraq. The people need to step up against the insurgency. Our military can't hold their hands in that reguard. That isn't our fight to win. Therefore we aren't the ones winning and losing it. They are.

And we are in a different situation in reguard to Iran than we were with Hilter and Japan. We can't just go all 'Patton' on them and invade them, especially with Iraq the way it is. Iran is posturing and going heavy on the rhetoric. And they are pursuing weapons for power. I highly doubt they would use them on Israel or the US.

the patton moment came and went when we passed over fallujah in '04

the iraqi leadership seems too short-sighted and scattered. at least the kurds are aware of the existential threat to them as a people. the sunnis dont face a threat so large. the future for many of them is refugee. they are already starting to come to the US and elsewhere. no one will take the kurds
