The Future Of Medicine: Insert Chip, Cure Disease?

Yeah, just mini steps right now.. go down this road long enough and humans will become machines

    http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases...0724145124.htm

"Imagine a chip, strategically placed in the brain, that could prevent epileptic seizures or allow someone who has lost a limb to control an artificial arm just by thinking about it.

It may sound like science fiction, but University of Florida researchers are developing devices that can interpret signals in the brain and stimulate neurons to perform correctly, advances that might someday make it possible for a tiny computer to fix diseases or even allow a paralyzed person to control a prosthetic device with his thoughts."

You know, if we get far enough with technology that can interpret brain signals, there's really no need for our body to "end" where it is. We could remotely control anything through thoughts. Good thing is there are many, from the military to individual corporations to researchers at universities, working on various technologies that can read people's minds. Maybe within a decade or two we'll start to see some of this stuff on the market.

The initial goal? To correct conditions such as paralysis or epilepsy.
