So who is our God and where does he reside?

While I am a christian and believe in God, I still search for a definition of God and heaven. Below are links to a seminar that offers some interesting arguments about this topic that I have found. While I question it, it does provide some interesting facts about Sumaria and the writings in the Bible.

Please watch the entire seminar before providing comments. I am truly interested in feedback from all of you that wish to provide feedback...

Props to In Flames for the SICK SIG!

I was raised Methodist and I do believe in one god. As far as what particular religion, I do not know now. I may take a lot of crap for this, but I live by this and only this : Do good things in life, treat people the way you want to be treated. I believe in one god, whether he is the christian god, I don't know. I guess that would make me a Deist. Does that make sense to you? I suppose I feel most modern religions are here, this is JMHO, as a way to corral the sheep. I mean no disrespect to anyone, just the way I feel.

Did anyone watch the whole seminar? I tried but couldn't get through the first part.

Players come and go, but I will always be a Miami Dolphins Fan first and foremost.

Most religions are man's way of approaching god by doing good works. Only one religion has God approaching man by one work. Check out what I am saying by what all religions except one tell you to do to obtain heaven. Be good. Only one religion says you need to have a relationship with him who was perfect.

I have been doing a lot of reading of William James and even a bit of Freud on religion lately. I was raised atheist, with no sense of religion. My search for meaning in religion seems to be in tune with Freud's intonation of seeking a father figure. But I liked what William James wrote about personal religion and institutional religion. From that perspective, my 'god' comes from within me.

    Is it 3am yet?

In light of such matters I turn to South Park for guidance. "Maybe just the fact that people believe in a God makes him real."

To Histerikill who wrote "But I liked what William James wrote about personal religion and institutional religion. From that perspective, my 'god' comes from within me"

That may be fine for you to believe but believing it doesn't make it so. The fact is there is a God who isn't imagined but is as real as you and I. You can say I reside within you but saying it doesn't come with power to make me leave my home and family to bring your wish about. There are absoloutes in this world. God can be found, but on His terms and not yours.
