    Devil May Cry 4

I normally don't give a crap about the DMC series. But out of total boredom last night, I decided to download (I mean acquire) it.

Still haven't played it, but will let you guys know when I get home.

ok... Played it for about 2 hours last night. Here's my first impressions:

I don't know when it happened. I don't know who thought it up... But at some point, it because "cool" to be a wierd ninja-esque looking guy that can jump off of walls, be faster than bullets, and perform moves you can only fathom in a cheesy anime. The opening scene of DMC4 weighs in a hefty 45 freakin minutes. That's not a good thing. Of that 45 minutes, you're actually only controlling the game for a good 15 minutes. The rest is spent showing off how "cool" the Capcom animators are by making two chracters fight.

I can hear the "ooohs" and "aaaahs" from DMC fans already. Y'know, those guys that will think it's cool because it's capcom... or even worse.. Where they think it's cool becasue it's japnese.

The opening sequesnce tries soooooo hard to be the coolest fight scene you've ever scene that it can only be described as corny. My little brother was even begging for it to end. So over done. But I'm sure DMC loyalists will disagree.

When it came down to the game itself, it wasn't half bad. Granted, it took a thousand years to get to it, but it's a standard beat 'em up with a slight Advanture/RPG twist. It was fun. Looks good and clever too. My biggest gripe with the gameplay is the annoying still cameras. They still use the mounted camera angles introduced by RE1 a million years ago. Not through the whole game, but when you run into a mounted camera, it sucked butt.

So far though, good rent. Will play more.

So can you buy moves? Any special moves?

Thought it looked like a good rent.

Why yes yes you can. In fact you can buy a variety of upgrades to your weapons and abilities. You get currency to buy that depending on how well you complete your mission based on time, collection of red orbs (money for items not abilities) and on style points (combo points).

This is my first DMC experience since the very first (one of my favorite games) and even though I dabbled in two I gave up on it after a few missions, but anyway, the game is over the top but the series has always been that way and some of the cutscenes are actually pretty cool. The BEST thing about this game is the actually gameplay (along with some pretty nice graphics) its so fluid I can't really recall a game being that smooth. The fighting is easy to get into but difficult to master.

I'm on mission 10 now and I'll try and give some more input lata. If your a fan of the series definately pick this one up but if your new to it rent it and check it out.
