    Hockey Games!

Ive been thinking about picking up a hockey game recently, but havent played one since the early days of the PS2. Damn it was fun back then though, which is why Im thinking about snagging one should I find the budget

Anyway, whats the good franchises these days? And any idea if/when the prices on them starts to drop a little? Not sure I want to shell out $60 for one right now. Thanks for the input guys
    (360 btw)

Well, there are demos for both games online. However, I find EAs series to be much more fun than 2ks. The online for EA is better IMO and NHL08 allows you to put sveral players on a team online. I personally still play NHL07 (dirt cheap these days, a lot of fun!!!!). NHL08 is even better though. I, like you, am a casual hockey fan (was in same situation, last game I had purchased was NHL01 on PS2) and will be 08 when 09 is released. Either NHL07 or 08 are good choices.

Thank you for bringing back The Depths

    I have NHL '08 for the PS3.

Even though it is an EA game it is still pretty good. The skill stick is fantastic and the computer AI is good, it makes the game tough and frustrating. The "dynasty mode" is cool. You control your roster as well as a minor league roster. A hole bunch of Euro teams are in there so you can pluck players from anywhere to help your team.

There are major flaws though. You hit WAY too many goal posts, it is a joke. The puck also leaves the rink too much and the computer never takes penalties.

If you like NHL video games then I'd recommend it. I just hope EA does a better job next year making the player rankings better and lessening the amount of times you hit the post and the puck leaves the ice surface.

    I don't find this problem in NHL07.

Thanks, I might grab the '07 version as its cheap. I usually do a league wide draft anyway so not to concerned with rosters and such

    Thanks for the input.

yes! NHL '94 was the best. also NHL hitz 20-02 was one of my favorite games ever.

I put it in bold because NHL hitz 20-03 and NHL hitz pro are geared more towards "real" hockey games.

NHL 08 stands out for me. It's one of the rare occasions where an EA Sports game is good and an even rarer occasion when an EA Sports game beats a 2k game.

And so do people who don't vote for me in FH March Madness http://www.dolphinsnation.com/forums...d.php?t=215893
Players I'm looking at for 08 draft: Adarius Bowman, DR Cromartie, Martin Rucker, Bruce Davis, Shannon Tevaga, Tracy Porter, Brian Brohm, john beck, Chris Long, John Carlson, Chauncey Washington (ex-HS teammate)
Interesting fact: Bill Parcells was the 1st NFL coach to have Gatorade dumped on him after a W in 1985.

NHL 08 has been the most addictive game I have played in a while.
