    Jail escape not detected for 2 days

    I'm guessing somebody is about to fire his lawyer.

    An inmate's escape from a jail in Washington state went undetected for two days last week until the man's defense lawyer stopped for a visit and he couldn't be found.

    Not sure how this happens.

    Our jail conducts a head count at 7:00AM, 3:00PM and 11:00PM.

    Does this jail simply not keep track of the inmates being booked in and released?

    During every single count we do three times a day, the number that we should have is never the number that is reported to watch commander by detention officers and a recount is conducted until they get it right. Usually, third times a charm rule applies.

    People "paper count". It's a symptom of;

    1. Supervisors not doing their job.
    2. Supervisors being overloaded with stupid, bull**** federal PREA law compliance.
    3. Supervisors doing full investigations on obviously bull**** claims under PREA, when
    they should be out there ensuring COs are doing their jobs.
