BJ Penn earned “Knock out of the night” for his stunning 21 second victory or legendary Matt Hughes, the win ends a two fight losing streak for Penn and Penn now takes a 2-1 lead in the series against Hughes.
Phil was awarded “Submission of the night” for his kimura victory over veteran Tim Boetsch in round 2, Boetsch had to tap twice before the ref finally stopped the action.
George Sotiropoulos and Joe Lauzon were awarded “Fight of the night” for their performance, the two went back and forth before Sotiropoulos ended the fight with a kimura in round 2.
Each fighter was awarded $80,000 “fight Night” bonuses for their efforts.

After UFC 123 president Dana White announced a pair of fights for the upcoming UFC 127 event Feb. 27 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.
George Sotiropoulos (14-2 MMA,7-0 UFC) will take on Dennis Siver (17-7 MMA, 6-4 UFC) the fight will take place at 155 pounds and will likely take place on the nights main card.
Sotiropoulos who is undefeated in the UFC with seven straight victories will be making his case for a title shot, at 123 he took on scrappy Joe Lauzon in what was “Fight of the night” Sotiropoulos won with a kimura in the second round.
Siver who is 6-4 in the UFC most recently fought at UFC 122 scored a first round submission victory over Ultimate Fighter finalist Andre Winner, siver is on a two fight win streak.
The second fight that was announced was a Welterweight fight between former Champion BJ Penn (16-7 MMA, 12-6-1 UFC) and top ranked fighter John Fitch (23-3 MMA, 13-1 UFC).
Penn who has held titles in both the Lightweight and Welterweight divisions returned to the welterweight division Saturday night to take on rival Matt Hughes in a rubber match, Penn scored a first round knock out in 21 seconds and won “Knock Out” of the night honors, it was his first win of 2010 after dropping back to back decisions to Lightweight champion Frankie edgar.
Fitch looks to build on his winning streak which now sits at five straight wins and move himself closer to a rematch with dominant champion George St.Pierre, fitch fought St Pierre at UFC 87 and dropped a lopsided five round decision snapping a 16 fight win streak.
Penn vs Fitch will most likely headline the event which should air live on PPV.

A lightweight contest between hard hitting Canadian fighter Sam “Hands Of Stone” Stout (16-6-1 MMA, 5-5 UFC) and scrappy British figher Paul Kelly (11-3 MMA, 5-3 MMA) is being targeted for UFC 126 Feb. 5, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas.
Sam Stout fights out of Canada and is known for his technical striking game and heavy hands; he last fought and defeated Paul Taylor by split decision at UFC 121 in October.
Prior to that he won three Fight of the Night awards for his wins over Matt Wiman at UFC 97, Joe lauzon at UFC 108 and a loss to Jeremy Stephens at UFC 113.
Paul Kelly is a British fighter who started training at the popular Wolfs Lair MMA Academy before moving to Team Kaobon which also is home to other British UFC fighters. Kelly last fought and defeated T.J. O’Brien by TKO (Elbows) at UFC 123, Nov. 20, 2010. Prior to that, he dropped a decision to Jacob Volkman by decision and has won three out of his last five contests.
Valentijn Overeem (28-25 MMA) has suffered a undisclosed injury and was forced to withdraw from his Strikeforce Debut against top ten fighter Antonio “Big Foot” Silva (14-2 MMA) which was scheduled to take place Dec. 4 2010 at Strikeforce: Henderson vs Babalu in St. Louis. mmaweekly.com first broke the news.
Valentijn is the brother of Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem and has competed for a handful of different organizations like Pride Fighting Championships, K1 and Sengoku to name a few and holds victories over notable fighters such as Randy Couture, Ross Pointen and Renato “Babalu” Sobral.
Valentijin is currently riding a two fight win streak, both victories came by form of knockout in the first round over Tengiz Tedoradze (24-10-1 MMA) and Catalin Zmarandescu (5-2 MMA) earlier this year.
This is the third blow the Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II card has received recently as it was reported that former NFL star and recent MMA import Herschel Walker had to pull out of his scheduled fight with Scott Carson with a deep cut and Jesse Finney also pulled out of his fight due to an eye injury which will require surgery.
Strikeforce: Henderson VS. Babalu II airs live on Showtime Dec. 4 2010 and features a light heavyweight rematch between Dan Henderson and Renato “Babalu” Sobral. Additionally Robbie Lawler takes on Matt “The Law” Lindland in a middleweight contest and hard hitting welterweights Paul Daley and Scott Smith square off.
