I know, I know, I'm obsessing about Pat White and those crazy gloves of his, but I asked him about it again after Sunday's workout.
"For right now, they're off," he said after going without them for the fourth straight workout day that was open to the media. "It rains a little bit down here. They can get slick."
White, who really seems like a fine young man, pointed out he "only did it half my senior year. I've been without gloves most of the time but people just picked up on it."
He mostly wore them to combat the cold weather at West Virginia and around the Big East.
So are they gone for good?
"For right now," he said. "I need to work without them."
Also asked about the Yankees, just to make sure they still hadn't contacted him since taking him in the 48th round last Thursday. They had not.
"I think they were just filling in a slot," he said with a grin. "They just closed their eyes and touched a name."
