Can someone explain rap music today?

I like music. One band I like is the Clash. They wrote a song called Straight to Hell.

I am a bit of Luddite, and I don't know what people listen to. But I was at a bar last night and I heard this.

Is new music just a remake of all old music? Apparently, this singer is famous. What gives?

    M.I.A. isn't considered a hip-hop artist, but that's irrelevant

Paper Planes was successful largely due to its connection to the soundtrack of Slumdog Millionaire

But alot of new music is sampling from old tunes, one example I hate is "Right Round" by Flo Rida, which blatantly steals from "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive

I have a universal name for all rappers. Lil Young G-Dogg. The music is all the same and it all blows. And yes, most of them just take songs that were made by actual musicians and either keep the lyrics and add a terrible repetative beat, or change lyrics to the same stupid, non-intellectial **** that is in rap and keep the good music adding some stupid beat to it.

People act like some of these guys are some kind of great voices that tell us whats going on in the hood when in reality its a bunch of bs. Its just a bunch of stupid lingo. The rappers cant sing, thats why they talk through the whole song. Then to try and make the **** rhyme they say a bunch of stupid **** that makes no sense yet people eat it up.

Rap blows and anyone creating a rap album should be beaten publicly by tire irons or crowbars or something similar.

Not hip-hop/rap fan, but cheap rip-offs are cheap and lame regardless of genre. Straight to Hell is incredible, though. A lot of groups/singers have been ripped off, though.

Paper Planes was in Pineapple Express, well, the commercials at least.

Rap sucks now. I grew up on Snoop, Dr. Dre, BIG and 2-Pac. I haven't liked rap in years now
