First, it was Microsoft trying to woo us with their XBox 360 price drop. Then, the people over at Sony decided they would step-in to court us with their PS3 price slash. Now, Wii would like to play (why, yes, Wii fans, that is a nod to their award-winning advertising slogan! Nice catch!), and Nintendo has plans to win us over with their very own price cut. Don't we feel loved?

Nintendo Co Ltd. made the official announcement from Japan on Thursday, September 24th (Wednesday, the 23rd for those of us stateside) that the price of the Wii would drop $50, or 20%, to $199.99 this Sunday, the 27th, at 12 AM PST. Price cuts in Japan and Europe will follow on October 1st and 2nd, respectively, so it looks like the U.S. will be first to benefit. Since launching in 2006, Wii has not seen a single price cut until this one. The decision strategy came out of a want and need to kick-start demand for the gaming console, in light of similar cuts made by its rivals Sony Corp and Microsoft Corp.
