The Thing That Frustrates Me With Henne

Let me preface this by saying that Henne is doing a lot of things that are very impressive out there. But It's entirely frustrating to see Henne's performance become a microcosm of the way this team has played the last two years. We now have a winning record, just like last year. But we've only broken one game open this year (vs. the Bills) when we seem to open up almost every one of our games with scoring drives and moving the ball pretty consistently after that.

For some reason, Henne has played his best ball at the beginning of games or when we are playing from behind (especially on last minute comeback drives). But, even just the last two weeks even, his production has floundered in the middle of the second half when we've really just needed a single good drive to get us in position to control the game. And these parts of the games are when we start seeing Henne uncharacteristically throwing sloppy passes, not setting up for throws and going off his back foot, not reading the defense correctly and throwing a pass right to a defender, and getting passes batted down at the line. It's like Henne senses that dominance of the game is within reach and he chokes in trying to seal the deal. Luckily for us we haven't paid for this because our defense has really held when it has needed to and Henne has been able to deliver at the last minute to win the game.

This post isn't trying to say that Henne isn't going to be an effective quarterback. I think its plenty obvious to us now that Henne is already an effective quarterback with a chance to become outstanding. He has had his moments of outstanding play in the last couple of games, but in order to take this team from competitive to outstanding Henne still needs to be able to play a complete game. Otherwise, this team (now and in the future) has merely shifted its limitations from last year and is the type of team that can prey upon mid-level teams to secure a winning record but can't seal the deal against the top-level teams in the league.

    Not sure what

You are talking about here, Ricky and Bess turned the ball over 3 times to kill drives, otherwise we would have had more points and Henne's stats would look awesome

Good points, but i think this is all part of his learning curve ... if in 2 seasons, he's making the same mistakes with regularity, than i will say he's nothing more than an average QB ... but if he shows improvement in all areas of weakness, than Miami has a stud!!!

He at one point completed 17 straight passes tying a franchise record. Don't you think the missed 38 yard field goal, the fumble by Bess and the fumble by Ricky are really the reasons why the offense failed to produce more points? Henne looked awesome today with the exception of ONE PASS that he had picked.

Chad Henne is the best QB this team has had this decade. He has only played in 10 games and he looks like a stud. Ask any person on the street if they know one WR on the dolphins except Ted Ginn (who sucks). Chad has no recievers to throw to and an average at best TE in Fasano and now Haynos.

Do you see how long he has to hold on to the ball just to find an open reciever. Of course he makes some mistakes but he is playing better than buttfumble and Stafford. Prepare to eat crow in the coming years.

"Fundamentals, technique, execution -- primary. Scheme -- secondary."

"We will incorporate an aggressive, up-tempo, attacking style in all three phases of the game."

"Our team will play with discipline, poise, and maximum effort."

"I want us to be the best tackling team in the NFL, the best team in pursuit, I want to take the ball away from other teams, I want to rattle the opposing quarterback every opportunity we get."

Yeah come on dude. 17 straight passes completed tying a team record. He's young. He'll be fine. We won the game and our quarterback situation seems to be solved. Not too many team can say that. Also, we're winning while we are rebuilding....

Does nobody ever give credit to opposing defenses making ADJUSTMENTS at the half around here?

There are TWO teams playing football out there, bud. And they have pro coaches, too. Coaches that get paid to dissect what we are doing and find ways to stop it.

HAHAHAHAHA, this thread is freaking funny and I can't beleive there is any Henne hate left. Henne was the man out there today! 2 fumbles in their territory and a missed FG had nothing to do with Henne. His pick was a good play by the CB breaking off his other guy than it was a bad throw by Henne. 21 of 29, and if Bess would have ran through instead of slowing down, it would have been 22 of 29 and another TD.

Are you kidding me with this....The guy has started 10...that's 10....games in the NFL and is now 7-3...This is by far the best QB we have had since Marino retired. He plays smart and makes very few mistakes for a rookie( I know this is year 2 for him but last year doesn't really count since he never saw the field.) Why not give praise to him instead of nit-picking( espeacially after a win).
