Obama's slush fund continues to grow.....

The current administration is under the illusion that the govt should continue to print money, go farther in debt, and continue to bailout everything in sight.

honestly, if its needed to save teacher jobs, its well worth it

the education system is not something we can afford not to spend money on. Its too important to the present and future of the country. Im cool with cutting spending, but education imo is never something you neglect

You do realize that some of these jobs are the same ones we had to save last year with the stimulus? Are we going to just continue to fund the unsustainable?

if we lost hundreds of thousands of education jobs, our system will go to shi*. We already are not very competitive with other countries education wise, and this would just add to it, creating less classes, higher amounts of students in each class, etc.

our economy is messed up right now without a doubt. Getting better, but still needs a lot of time and work. We cant lose 300,000 teachers. Do anything to pay them and keep them

It is not unsustainable. The budget concerns exist during this rather extraordinary recession; when unemployment normalizes and state budgets are healthier, they likely will not need these types of assistance programs.

So how long before the economy is back up and running? Do we continue to add to our 1.5 trillion dollar deficit for 2 more years...5....10? They wasted the stimulus last year on frivolous things, and now they need to make more bailouts.

I don't oppose education, quite the contrary, but the govt has its hands in everything, and they will just make it worse.

This doesn't address the fact that Obama wants this bailout off-budget.....Wasn't he the one screaming about transparency?

I don't agree with continual bailouts...Last year you all said the stimulus was a temporary thing, this year you are saying the same thing...It is a hollow argument. The facts say something else.

If the education system is so screwed up, then why not fix it? Why continue to put a band-aid on an arterial spray? This doesn't help anything. It puts the country farther in debt, and solves nothing.

We will continue to have huge deficits even after the unemployment level goes below five percent, just like we had them before the recession. The level provided by providing emergency funding for teachers is quite small in comparison, though, and it is probably cheaper overall then to let the teachers be fired (loss of tax revenue), and the reduced education for students (which costs the country in the long run).
