    Miami Dolphins spending chart 2010

In light of money curiosities with the Atogwe situation, I am posting this for all to see what our spending is thus far. I do not guarantee it to be 100% correct. If anyone sees something missing or wrong, please let me know. Also, if you like this post, please give me some REP LOL!! I spent alot of time getting this together. Remember this is 2010 spending, NOT salary cap numbers. I also am doing a separate page with cap values (if there was a salary cap this season). I will post it after rookie signings. IMO it always helps to know what our possibilities are.

We did a tremendous job taking advantage of the non-capped season

    1. Joey Porter $4.8 million dead
    2. Gibril Wilson $4 million dead
    3. Ted Ginn $5.91 million dead

    5. Justin Smiley $5.4 million dead

****late, additions-these numbers were NOT added in to totals*****
I knew these two were getting a bonus, I just wasn't sure on the amount.
    1. Vernon Carey's roster bonus is $200,000 this year.
    2. Jake Long's bonus is ~$1.5 million.
I did not know he had an option bonus this year. He was one player that did have some missing money on his contract.
    3. Yeremiah Bell has a $1.4 million option bonus this year.

    WELCOME
Brandon Marshall, Karlos Dansby, Richie Incognito, Tim Dobbins
Jared Odrick, Koa Misi, John Jerry, AJ Edds, Nolan Carroll, Reshad Jones, Chris McCoy, Austin Spitler

It was good to get rid of those bloated contracts during this uncapped offseason.

A couple of things that I found interesting:
    1. Will Allen is guaranteed his salary this season. Letting Nate Jones go makes a little more sense now.

    2. Phillip Merling is still owed close to $1.7 million guaranteed money. Going nowhere after troubles.

    3. Pat White is still owed close to $1.7 million guaranteed money. Even if he gets cut, he is still getting paid.
It makes me think they will find a way to keep him on the roster.

Although upcoming in 2011 and 2012 we have a TON of guys that are going to get paid. Bess, Donald Thomas, Henne, Ronnie, Langford, Clemons, Sean Smith, Cameron Wake.

It is hard to say that the FO will do, but to me signs point to them making that one final signing because they cleared up a lot of space, even after signing Dansby and Marshall.

This is very interesting, thank you.

One of the most amazing things I see here is how many of our good players are earning very little money. That is a very good thing, and the great franchises are superb at keeping the cycle of underpaid/overachieving players going (generally rookies/young players).

It seems from these numbers that Atogwe would be easy to justify financially if the FO wants him. There are several players here that could still be released/traded if we really felt like we had to clear some salary. But it doesn't seem necessary.

People that are making too much money and should feel uncomfortable because of it (as in BP might do something about it)...

Tony McDaniel - Haven't seen much from him so I don't think he deserves more than a million this year...

Channing Crowder - 2.1 mil is a lot for a lesser ILB... especially when you have Dobbins.

Charlie Anderson - 2.2 mil is a lot for an aging vet that (until recently) has only played as a rotational guy

Quentin Moses - He is a guy that has hung around this team for a while but I don't think he should be getting more than a mil a year either...

Will Allen - I know he was THE star player on our defense for a bit but 5.2 mil is re-dunk-ulous!

Jason Allen - Almost 1.3 mil for a special teams guy? eh, I think we have tried too hard to get this guy on the field for way too long.
    I just want to win.

Bess, D. Thomas, Ronnie, and Clemons are all players I expect to receive modest contracts or no contracts (from Miami).

you are very welcome. Yes good drafting and young players is the way to build a team.
Our poor drafts and lack of picks in previous years always kept us behind the better teams talent-wise.
It is great to have a FO that knows what they are doing. Sure they miss some picks, but they also hit on a very high ratio and usually find a couple undrafted contributors as well. Add in the fact that they drafted 7 team captains this year and you have a recipe for success. These kind of guys are the guys that put in that extra effort and have great character. They will contribute to the team sooner rather than later.

Will Allen is going nowhere, his salary is guaranteed this season.
Next season could be a different story, his $5.5 million salary is not guaranteed.
IMO we need Anderson, McDaniel, Crowder this season.
Q Moses and J Allen are in the most danger of losing spots.
Moses, Walden, McCoy, Spitler should battle for 2 roster spots.
Atogwe signing, Nate Ness, or Evan Oglesby could bump Jason Allen off the roster.
