Jake Long ranked 29th-best NFL player by cbssports.com

Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jake Long, a Lapeer East graduate, is the NFL’s 29th-best player according to Pete Prisco of CBSsports.com.

The web site’s senior writer ranked the league’s top 50 players and Long, who made the Pro Bowl in both of his first two seasons in the league, is ranked third among tackles behind Denver’s Ryan Clady (13th) and Cleveland’s Joe Thomas (20th).

Long is also the top-ranked Miami player.

“He's a rock on the left side of the Miami line,” Prisco writes. “He's improved greatly as a run blocker, and he excels in pass protection. He had one bad game -- the opener against the Falcons — and then played at a high level in 2009.”

Long, who has started all 32 games the past two seasons, was named first-team All-Pro by the Sporting News and second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press last season.

Dude this love affair people have with Clady is ridiculous, especially when everyone knows that the he had a poor season last year. Also how the Hell is Marshall not ahead of Jake, I love Jake, but Marshall is a Top 3 WR. Guys our Dolphins are really underrated.

Zach Thomas: I played against New England twice a year every year my whole career. I learned to not like that team. I wasn't going to join them.

Jake and Marsh are prob neck in neck in terms of their talent level and production. I dont really have a problem with either being ahead of the other.

I disagree that Marshall should be ahead of Long. Jake Long is the best tackle in football imo, or at least it's very close between him, Clady, and Thomas. LT is a a lot more important than WR.

Joe Thomas and Jake Long are 1a and 1b in my opinion. Clady was great his rookie year and wasn't as productive his second year. There is no way that Clady is at the level they are. He is great, but I would not even have him on my list.

Marshall is rate appropiately. Marshall, Andre Johnson, Fitzgerald, Steve Smith and Calvin Johnson are the 5 best receivers in football right now.
    Welcome to the Miami Dolphins

    Patrick Turner, WR, SOuthern California

It's an open debate. From what I've seen it runs about half and half among talking heads, former players and former scouts.

I'm ok with where they are ranked. The only thing I'm surprised at that Clay is ranked 13th.

He really didn't have a great rookie year. He had 37 QB pressures that year (it might take Long 4 seasons to match that). Those pressures turned into sacks last year with the more cautious Orton in place of Cutler.
