    two runningbacks

the way it looks is ronnie and ricky will be gone next year and the trifecta likes drafting two or more of a needed position, so i say pick up a te,rb in the first, in the 2nd pick up nt or ether te or rb(opposite of what drafted in the first) and pick up a guy like noel devine in the 3rd or fourth (hopefully he would fall that far). i think we need a strong back like a ingram then get a flashy guy like noel devine. the kid is amazing. im not saying i want him to be a starter, but just situational and he can return. thoughts?

what stands out for me with devine is the body control and balance he has...that and quick acceleration...but he looks awfully small to me...i don't like the size

And he doesn't really have the elite top end speed either. Gets caught from behind too often for me. Slaton was a better prospect to my eyes and he went late 3rd round. That spread, though, still gets me from a talent evaluation standpoint. It's well known how it affects scouting guys in the passing game but it's usually overlooked how it affects the running game. Those wide splits and jet fakes and defensive end reads spread out a defense and makes running backs with great quickness rather than tackle breaking ability look better than they are (look what happened to Pat White when he tried to run the ball, and he's 200 pounds, rather than Devine's like 170).

I say no. Devine's no McCluster. I'd grade him out no better than the 5th round.

as for the spread or a lot of these gimmick offenses and evaluating kids as pros...its something that always bother me...whether it be rbs or wrs...not a fan of how guys that come from those systems translate for the most part

Well, Divine is a nice fit for that zone read offense he plays in and employing it against collegiate defenses, but he's no Dexter McCluster.... and can't hold Quizz Rodgers jock strap...

Divine can't pick up a blitz..... doesn't block well at all.... next to no value on special teams.... doesn't run well in traffic... and wont break tackles.... all of the things you must do well in order to be a productive pro...
