CBA talks almost "blew up" yesterday/A deal in two weeks is "borderline insane"

    So much for optimisim.....

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6663832

At a time when many are waiting for and anticipating a labor deal, there was a time Tuesday when talks clearly regressed.

One person close to the talks even went so far as to say, "This almost blew up yesterday."

How close it did is a matter of opinion. But what is factual is that the moment came shortly after lawyers from both sides were brought back into the process. As tensions rose and anger grew, two sources said NFL Players Association leader DeMaurice Smith instructed his lawyers to "stand down."
Multiple sources familiar with the talks said progress is being made, but they cautioned that there's "a lot of drama and a lot of room for mistakes left."

To say this is going to be done in two weeks, one source said, "is borderline insane." The two sides are meeting again Wednesday in Maryland, in bigger groups. More meetings are expected next week.

I'm tired of the constant contradictory reporting from all these guys. Yesterday it was sunshine and lollipops, and now we have to wait some more? Come on, man!

Progress was being made without the lawyers. Lawyers get back in the picture and D. Smith has to tell the Lawyers on the players side to "stand down".

Greed is a factor but these lawyers are also a prideful bunch who like to beat their chests and say "look what I did for the NFL players" or "look what I did for the NFL owners". It's high profile for them and brings in more clients. Not to mention they get paid by the hour so dragging this out doesn't hurt their pockets either.

This is still a dog and pony show. The owners are feeling urgency to get things done and so they're making concessions, which in turn has caused the players to make a few concessions of their own, but stagecraft is at work here. The evil lawyers come in barking mad so that De Smith can play good cop, bad cop and swoop in like some superhero General telling his men to "stand down"?

    Come on. That's staged.

I posted this in the VIP the other day when there was optimism about the CBA getting done.

If I read one more story about hearsay it will be thirty seven too many. This lockout killed all semblance of rational reporting and let's face it there wasn't much of that to go around in the first place.

Like I have said, when the deal is signed I will whoop it up but until then I don't buy one ****ing thing that comes out of this three ringed circus act.

It would be nice if this is finally the truth but the truth has become so diluted that it is almost impossible to tell what twist this will take a day from now.
    Peace and Humptiness Forever

I think someone should give both the owners and players a big test, like the SAT (high school SAT) and whoever has more people that pass...wins the CBA. See how intelligent these players and owners REALLY are.
