    41 TDs, 21 INTS, 60% Completions, 7500 YDS

Would you not take this as your starting QBs stats over a 2 year sample size if you had a really good defense and surrounded him by weapons?

    Think about it...

Yes. Orton is a decent qb. Anyone who thinks he's Montana is trippin. But, he's way better than what we got. A very good defense. Lots of talent on offense. Maybe pick up Boss or Heap, someone like that. We could run 2 te sets, maintain max protection. Revamped ground game. Plus he knows how to use Marshall. Henne cant, or atleast he hasnt shown it. How cant an NFL qb, be good enough to use Marshall? It aint hard. Throw ball up and Marshall goes up and gets it. Yes get Orton. I really dont see the debate here.

It's mind boggling why some people don't want Orton. Here's another stat. He was tied for third in the NFL last year with 35 big pass plays. Only Rivers (43) and Rodgers (40) had more. Henne was tied for 25th with only 18.

IMO a lot of fans don't want Orton because he is not a Manning/Brees/Brady/Rogers QB. It would be great to have that but what the Fins need is somene who can make big plays and not throw dumb picks. Orton over Henne provides that. There are no Manning/Brees/Brady/Rogers QBs available so instead of dealing with reality they'd prefer to sit back and bi*ch and moan about not having an elite QB rather then realizing this would be a significant upgrade over Henne and enough to push them into contention.

Those are decent stats, what's not a decent stat is the 11-17 record over the last two years and the fact that Denver drafted Tebow to replace him which tells me they weren't sold on him as a long term solution.

In general fans have a hard time with the concept of the good or significantly good QB. He's either Peyton Manning/Drew Brees or he sucks, with no inbetween. They don' t know what to make of a guy like Orton. But you can win a Championship with that caliber QB, just like the Giants did with Eli Manning. It takes some breaks and you got to have very good play from other areas of your team, but you can do it
A couple of things that make Orton good fits...
He didn't throw a lot of interceptions with the Broncos despite the fact he went into every game knowing he had to put up 38 points solely on his arm for his team to have any chance at all of winning. When QB's are put in that situation they usually throw a lot of INTs because they're forced to throw the ball into bad fits trying to make a play. Also, defenses don't respect their running game meaning they get to drop everyone back in coverage. This in contrast with Henne who often made brutal decisions and took very poor care of the football.
Second, the guy sees the entire field and goes through all of his progressions.

He gets the ball to his 3rd and 4th and 5th reads. This forces defense to cover all the field. This is another area where Henne was quite poor. Henne locked onto his first two reads and crapped the bed ... either forcing it into a covered man or just sitting on the football waiting for one of them to break open.

Orton doesn't have elite arm strength, but that will be masked much better in warm weather Miami than it was in Chicago and Denver. And his time in Josh McDaniels system should adjust him easily to Daboll's since they both came up through the same coaching tree.... should be a very smooth transition.

Frankly, anyone who pins Denver's record on Orton is a football ignoramus who probably maybe watches 15 minutes of football a week inbetween commercials for mixed gender ice skating.

    Brandon Marshall 2009 w/ Orton
    targeted every 6 offensive snaps
    67% complete, 8 drops
    11.1 yards per catch

    Brandon Marshall 2010 w/ Henne
    targeted every 6 offensive snaps
    65% complete, 14 drops
    11.8 yards per catch

    2010 passing splits
passer rating, Fourth quarter of close games (trailing or ahead by 7 or less points)
    Orton 58.5
    Henne 58.4

Passer rating, inside opponents' 20 yard line
    Orton 91.5
    Henne 89.0

    passer rating, 3rd down
    Orton 58.0
    Henne 73.0

passer rating, 3rd down and 3-7 yards to go
    Orton 45.8
    Henne 119.7

    passer rating, when blitzed
    Orton 72.8
    Henne 74.4

    passer rating, under pressure
    Orton 12.2
    Henne 23.7

Ya, this is all the defenses fault. The guy has good window dressing but can't perform in the clutch, on 3rd and 7 (or more) and under pressure. As stated above, there is a reason why 2 teams let him go. Continue to read just the title page instead of the whole book and making your decision though....smart. Half these dudes bashing Henne say it is all about the wins one week, and now it is all about the stats....LMAO.
